September started with a bang on the Lake Michigan and the St. Joe River today. John Gipson Jr and I fished all day today because I officially start work tomorrow. Today was my last day of summer vacation:(.... I know you all feel horrible for me. Anyways, we started the morning fishing the big lake and we managed to catch 6 smallies on tube jigs and drop shot rigs. We never caught any giants but John lost one that he thinks was around 6 pounds. It was pri a sheephead! At about noon we docked at Barny's Boat House for some lunch. After a big lunch we ran up river and caught a bunch of small 2 pounders with rattle traps. They were jumping about 3 ft out of the water and fighting like they were on roids. At about 3:30 pm we motored back down to the no wake zone and started slaying some hogs. I bet we caught around 15 big smallies in a couple hours. I caught two giants back to back one was 4 pounds 10 ounces and the other was 5 pounds 2 ounces. The river is on fire to say the least.

I thought that was you but I wasn't for sure. We really didn't do to good. It was super slow but I did manage a couple on crank baits and one good one on a rattle bait. I caught more trout than anything! I was catching 2-3 pound steelhead one after another on the drop shot. Who knows. I;ve never caught them before. I would mark a bass on my finder and drop it down on it. Usually they are bass or sheephead but today they were trout.
It was a beautiful day though.
