Anyone got any advice on what to do this time of year on cadillac/mitchell? I will be fishing BAU's makeup tourney this sunday to qualify for there classic. This will be only my second time on that lake and any info would be helpful to not waste time during practice.

We ended up finding two solid patterns in practice and they held up enough to give us 1st. We brought in 13.5 and had bigbass at 4.4, Don Fowler who just won the federation championship on erie and lives in cadillac took 2nd with 13.1. We thought we blew it since we missed a 4.5-5 pound smallie in the morning which went airborn about 4 feet high right in front of our face and threw the bait, it was an amazing and painful jump, and two 3.5 pound largies later on in the day. But the fish we did manage to land luckily ended up being enough for us to win. The boys fishing the BBT classic might be in store for some excellent fishing.

Yes the turnouts are low this year thats why we decided to fish BAU. All you have to do is fish two tournaments and you are in the classic. Why not when you only invest $135 each and two weekends and have great odds at winning a new triton. Not to mention most teams are fishing leelanau for the first time because of its location (near many popular smallmouth lakes) and this shortens our inexperience level which normally hurts us on most lakes. Atleast thats my thinking anyways.

We fished mitchell, had 5 boats, cought 1 smallie at 3.5 pounds and missed that pig in the first hour, and then went for the greenies when the sun came up. Small tournament but good sticks and all had 11-13 pound limits. We were happy with finding some big fish, if we landed all of them our sack would have been 19-20 pounds. Only 5 boats but 1st took the money at $550.
