hello im new to the site thanks to a buddy up there. my name is mark. my family has owned a cottage on magician lake for as long as ive been alive, and am amazed at some of these smallie pics from that lake. since 1995 ive been chasing those chrome fish out of the great lakes and as you know they are addicting Laughing . after seeing some of those beautiful smallie pics i realized i have neglected to really put in some time fishing that lake. i catch a ton of bucketmouths out of there and some beautiful pike, but mainly when i fish magician its for crappie and walleye. i always heard stories from locals about the smallies out there but never believed it due to never hooking one out there. my question is does anyone know how they got in there? the dnr manages the lake for walleye(does a great job too with some of the hogs i've pulled out of there over the years), but show no record of smallmouth management. i've fished diamond and love that lake for smallies, but would love to get into a bronzeback on magician. its a great fishery with healthy baitfish populations. is there a certain part of the lake that im missing out on? i live over in the channels off of m-152 on the south end of the lake. structure is everywhere out there, which is why i feel i've neglected the lake Sad . thanks in advance and maybe ill run into some of you guys out there this weekend.

always practice C.P.R. let them swim,

mark

THanks for joining. Magicians smallies came from the St. Joe River and other lakes in Michigan. I know people have been dumping their catches in there for quite a while. Since it's illegal now the smallies will be on their own to reproduce. I don't think they'll have any problems reproducing though. Look for shallow rocks and you'll find spawning smallies.
