I heard that KVD and his boys fished a local NBAA weeknight tournament this week. They did not win

The VanDams Fish Division 14, Gun Lake!

Anglers were surprised to find themselves going up against the best angler in the nation, Kevin VanDam, at a recent Gun Lake tournament hosted by directors of Division 14, Brian Moore and Wayne Meade. The Vandam family came out in full force including Kevin, his boys Jackson and Nickolas and their uncle Randy Vandam, owner of D&R Sports in Kalamazoo. Randy and Nickolas walked away with Big Bass honors and 6th place. Kevin and Jackson ended up with three fish good for 5th place. Topping the field of 15 boats was the team of Jay Beckwith and Brian Baum with a total weight of 10.08 lbs.

Kevin has a little time off from his hectic fishing and promotional schedule. He’s working on some food plots near his home in Kalamazoo and decided to hit a few local tournaments with his boys. Nickolas lost the coin flip and had to fish with Uncle Randy, but it all worked out when they landed the big fish of the day. All the anglers had a great time at the event and everyone hopes to have another shot at fishing against the VanDams in the future.
