Well, to say we were confident going into this is an understatement. We found some good fish yesterday, and managed to keep from fishing it to death while looking for other fish.
We launched this morning and hit our first spot, a nice point with some smallie action. Got a hit on topwater and lost it trying to boatflip. Bummer, but it was only 14 or 15, so no big loss, right? Well, after an hour there, another hour elsewhere, we were zeroes. We were scrambling on some structure we knew well to come up with a limit, hoping to get a big fish to make the difference. We managed to find some fish, halfway through the tournament, that were on beds. We put a small keeper in the boat, then Tim hooked into a pig. We netted her up, and she was beat up good on her tail, but not fat, so she was spawned out. There's a 4.4. We caught another small one when I hooked into a pig also. She was bleeding and skinny, so you know what that means. That ended up being our big fish at 4.7. We landed several more, I missed another 4 that threw my bait, and then had to go weigh in. Talk about going from hero to zero in hours!
We ended up having 15lb 12.5oz. Scott Davis I think it is ended up winning with 16lb 14.5oz, and another group had 15lb 15oz., so we ended up third. That is our best tournament weight brought in at Paw Paw, so a small victory for us, but that 4 I missed would have upgraded us to about 18, so the little mishaps do count. We had fun though, after we started catching them, and got some of the money we spent back, so not so bad.

My partner today, Rick Jones, caught most of our fish but I was happy to net them. The team that got second was Chad Poole and Steve Ost I believe. Good job to all who fished today, Lots of good people out there making for a good time.
Scott.
