I didn't have that great of a morning on the Joe but Mike Rappette and I did manage to catch a couple. Actually we caught 5 good ones that went 13 pounds. Our biggest smallies was 3.5 pounds. It seemed like the majority of the big ones pulled back out into the lake.

Fishing was slow for us on Sunday also. Got to disagree about the river "turning over" though. Lakes do that when the water on top gets colder than the water on the bottom and the warmer water on the bottom rises causing the "turn over". In the river, the water is constantly moving and is close to the same temperature from top to bottom because of it mixing comming across the sand flats and shallows. It doesn't get much of a chance to stratify. Just my opinion, can't say if its right or wrong...

Your pri right, there was just alot of dead stuff floating up from the bottom. Clumps of dead leaves, mixed with mud and grass. Maybe my thought should have been, it reminded me of when a lake turns over.

We had a dead deer float up.....Least we didn't hook it! But that remides of of another time I was fishing with an old friend of mine on the river. He was throwing a crankbait at the time. He made a cast downstream and wham! He had one on. Since it was downstream he thought it was tugging pretty hard and had to be a good size fish. When he got it close to the boat, we discovered he had a dead cat snagged in the back leg. He cut the line and said good bye to that crankbait. It was a long time before he was able to get over the razzing about cat fishing on the joe!
