Make sure that you are not targeting bass, as catch and release season is not even open yet. I believe that is at the end of April sometime. And make sure your license is up to date!! Good fishing and I hope you catch some good 'uns.

| Walleye is also closed now! Panfish is all you can legally catch now unless your in the river fishing for trout.

I got my boat up and running today and ventured out on Magician Lake at about 1pm and fished there until 6.
The water temp. was a blistering 42°-43° I did find one spot that it hit 45° but that did not affect the fish, they had positioned themselves on the breaks on the sand next to the weed edges. Most fish I saw were sunning in about 3-7ft. of water on the inside edges. I was able to catch about 5 on a buddie and then switched to an erie darter and caught about 15 more, nothing really huge my largest was about 3lb and the smallest was about 13-14". I was able to catch a few fish (2) on a Jackall Squirel Jerkbait. The fishing should be even better on Sunday as the fish I was catching today were moving up even more as the sun baked on them all day.
What really stinks is that the rockbass, crappie, bluegills were not biting as I was planning on catching them and cleaning them this weekend. (well maybe they will bite next time)
Also I caught 2 Northern in 24-26ft. of water one was about 30" and the other was 25"
Good luck on the water. |

| I'm not going to venture as far as to say where I was fishing today but I caught 6 fish in 2 hours and the smallest was 2.5 and the largest was 4, the others were all over 3 pounds. The 2 largest fish came on a Giron, 1 on an Erie Darter, and 3 on a Red Eye Shad. It was really fun to get out there and catch a few. I saw some absolute monsters chasing perch on a flat but only caught the 4 pounder, he was easily the smallest one of the bunch. |

| Was out for most of Saturday and a little bit on Sunday. Later in the day was obviously much better because the sun warmed up the water a little bit. Caught probably 12-15 on Saturday afternoon. Kind of divided on what they bit on, it was mostly split between a jerkbait, plastic worm, and small blade bait. Most of the fish were all really shallow (3-8 ft). That water was so clear they were really spooky this time of year. Also caught a few good size crappie on Sunday using a minnow and jig combo. Saw a lot of walleye in shallow flats but couldn't manage to get them to bite. Will be back up in two weeks.
