Heck no I didnt get out the weather was horrid!! It was another weekend spent buying tackle, organizing and tinkering baits. I spent $160 on gammi treble hooks, two lucky craft pointers, and a hotspots map of Maxi, if this weather does not improve soon im going to be in the poor house.
This Sat me and Jav decided to fish the tournament on Maxi, skeeterman will be there too and is money on that lake. My expectations are very low but it will be good to have competition again. Fun Fishing is one thing but nothing compares to a bass tournament and I am pumped. Me and Jav will be out there practicing thursday so we will see what we can figure out. I expect water temps to be under 50 degrees in the main lake which will likley be a problem for us. I have personally never had success in water temps below 50 degrees and I damn well better figure it out this time when it counts. Hopefully Jav will whack um to pick up my slack on tournament day. Confused

T,

Try out the North side of the lake. There are a lot of rock piles that smallies will spawn on and sun themselves. Throw a gold buddy in 10-20 foot out from the rock bars. I caught smallies out there last year. Also try the buddy around the humps in the middle of the lake. There was a sunken boat on one of the humps that could produce nicely if you can find it. Heck I don't think I could even find it again since I didn't own a GPS at the time.

The Northeast side of the lake is my next choice when I fish Maxi. There are a couple cribs and logs that hold fish if you can sneek up on them. Lastly, if any fish are spawning in the channels they will be the ones to catch and the ones that will in. Spend some time pitching a jig in the channels because there may be a couple pig prespawners.

The big smallies "3 pounders at Maxi" will spawn on isolated cinder blocks in 7-10 ft. If you can find a couple of those mark them because when the smallies start to spawn you'll know were they are.

Was out on Wawasee getting ready for the Federation Nation state championship. Water was 41 deg. Spent most of my time hunting around rather than fishing.

May 10, 11th should be good if the weather co-operates. Rich, I'll be glad to listen to what ever you have to offer.
