I went to the st. joe in berrien springs to find out if the smallies are hungry. I was excited because a couple of casts in i landed a smallmouth that went 3lbs. 0oz. I went a while without a bite, but about an hour or so later, i hooked into a fish that nearly pulled the rod out of my hands. I saw it was a giagantic smallmouth! I landed it and got a picture, and released it without weighing. There was a few people around, and i didnt want to take any chances by not immediatly releasing it, seeing it is catch and immediate release season. I ended up catching one more smallmouth later, about 15".

Tcook and I fished the river for a bit tonight out of St. Joe, and other than seeing a fellow SWMBasser, we caught a few decent fish that would have went around 3- 3 1/2. A few smaller ones also, and lost a few as well. I forgot how much they fight out there!! How fun!! The wind and current were ridiculous though, turn the trolling motor up to high and barely go anywhere!! Water temp was up though at 62 in most areas, better than when we originally launched in the channels at Paw Paw and the water temp was 46!!!!

PawPaw was on fire!!! Went there on Sunday first 10 minutes and I had a 5.1 in the boat. Ended up catch one more that was right at 5. Numerous 3-4lb fish, that place is a big fish factory! I caught the big ones on a jerkbait bait. But all the rest came on a Nemesis Baits Stik bait. Wacky rigged umm im not gonna give it away but i seen them all!-skeeterman-

Ditto that for me also......... There is a few places that I know of that fit that bill right off the bat, but I do not want to go any farther incase we are talking about different spots. Remember that fish in Paw Paw spawn from April until June if that helps anyone out, I have seen them as early as March 6th and as late as July 15th. Again each year is different but with that statement depending on the weather it is not that much of an issue. I will say this fish in channels are typically in the same ole, same ole but main lake fish sometimes will do something different and you might never see them again in the area.... this is the case where Rich C. and I cracked them in 2001 and I have never found them as good as they were that time, granted I will find a few there but for the most part it is a 1 or 2 fish spot, back in 01 there were close to 20 fish in that same area ranging from 3lb up to 7lb the males were well over 3 on all beds and some males were close to 5.
