Took advantage of the catch and release opener to do some largie fishing as well. I went out to pipestone lake, hoping to hook into a 5lber. I cruised around, with a few bites, but came up short, i guess im a little rusty. We saw some commotion in the shallows, and saw a nice bass that could have gone 5lbs that was chasing bluegill. I tossed my tube and swam it by her, and the fish was very interested. As i paused my presentation and as the fish chased the lure down, ready to strike, my bonehead partner casted his 1/2 oz spinnerbait right over the fish's head, causing it to spook. We moved on down the shoreline at a fairly quick pace, since we got a late start. I was aggressivly working a huskey jerk, and ended up catching a chunky 2lb+ bass. A few casts later, another fish of the same size. We went a while cruising shallows looking for fish, and saw one bass that i would give every ounce of 6 1/2lbs. It was a giant, but was spooked by the boat. Later down the shoreline i landed a 10" largemouth on my 6" huskey jerk. I recommended to my partner to put something on he could fish quickly, since it was getting dark and I wanted to cover a lot of water before sundown. He tied on a chatterbait. Soon after, we saw some more bass-bluegill action. He tossed the chatterbait into the commotion, and hooked into a bass. After a brief fight, he landed the fish, which weighed in at nearly 5lbs. Pics will be up soon_________________ rock hard, fish harder
