| How many lakes in our area have a decent smallie population. I know that there are smallies in magician and barron, but i cant think of any others off the top of my head. My boat/motor really isnt good enough for the river, and i love smallmouth fishing...

I know Paw Paw Lake has a decent smallmouth population but they are hard to catch in the summer. Every year a couple 4-6 lbers are weighed in during tournaments. My best was 4.5 lbs.
Klinger Lake, Eagle Lake, and Diamond lakes all have healthy smallmouth populations. Klinger is by far the best.
By K-zoo there is Austin Lake, Gun Lake, Gull Lake, K-zoo river, and a small lake south of Portage but I forgot the name of it.
The best place to catch lots of big smallies is the Joe.

1. Klinger smallies are untouched and can go upward of 5lbs
2. Maxi has a lot of 3lb clone fish and you can catch them good until end of june.
3. St. Joe I like in the spring until post spawn but not a fanatic about it in the summer.
4. Gull lake has a good population and they will spawn till the 2 week of June on there.
5. Wawasee is good in front of the Ceminary and on Dog Point.
6. Hardy Pond is by far a Smallie franchise.
7. Muskegeon is very good
8. Sagutuck is good early
9. Spring Lake is good if you can find them |

I would have to disagree with Justin a little on Eagle and Diamond lake about the populations of smallmouth, I have been to those lakes during spawn and they do not seem to hold the numbers of fish that I would see on lets say Maxi, Klinger
some others I missed on the last post

Oh yes, one of my favorite smallmouth lakes. But you guys do not go there and kill these fish they are abundant and not fished that hard.
Fisher Lake just outside of Three rivers
as soon as the ice is off Lower Lake in Colon, Michigan has them also - Chad Grigsby, Mark Zona and I went there about 5 years ago and caught close to 80 - 2-3 lb fish |

| The other day I was out on a lake that you wouldn't expect for smallies and got 5 that went over 20 pounds! The fish were far from being schooled but when I established a pattern I was able to get some big ones! The biggest went almost 6 pounds!

So are you gonna give us a clue about this magic lake or are you just gonna talk big about it???? Throw us a bone here, we need a little more info than that!!! Other people may want to play with them too.

| I've been getting them good on a couple of lakes and one has a lot of weeds that need to be sprayed every year and dock fishing rules!

| Well the only lake i have caught any smallies out of would be magician. But that is the only lake i have fished that has a smallie population. Now if i could get some names for these killer lakes that would be great,....... you guys are killing me

| If you want to catch a lot of smallies just go to Klinger or Fishers Lake, you will get a bunch this time of year.

I love tales of mystery lakes that hold 6 pound smallmouth!! I would love to see the pictures and post them on my site. We don't have to tell anyone the lake of corse 
I think I know of a couple lakes that meet your discription.
