Was fishing the river today and had some guys catch smallies in front of us. First guy went to put it on a stringer fishing from shore, T explained to him that it was not season, you could not keep it, and it was well under the 14 inch limit besides. After some consideration he finally tossed it back, so the next rock bass we caught went up on shore for him to have. When loading the boat though he watched a guy catch about a 3 lber, say he thought it was a sheephead, and head to his vehicle. He again told him it was a smallmouth and was out of season and had to be returned to the water immediately. The guy said something along the lines of "oh yeah," then proceeded to throw it in his trunk. Not having the DNR number anymore, and not having your number anymore either Justin I called 911, got the number for Benton Township, called them and reported it. Officer told me he would look into it, so probably the end of that. But, I tried. Now I am going to enter the number into my phone for future reference. A lot of those guys fishing from shore don't read the rules and reg's, and don't even know there is a size limit or season for bass, let alone know what one may look like. That really sucks, yet nothing gets done about it. Evil or Very Mad

Had the exact same problem. A guy had one on his stringer and told him it was out of season. He insisted that it was a rock bass, and you couldnt tell him anything else. His reasoning was that it had a red eye, that makes it a rock bass...
