Looked all over the site, probably overlooked it or something. What time is the pre tourney meeting, or is there one? Anything else I may need to know?

We made some bad decisions on Hardy Dam. We had a marked map from cyrus Ruel who knew the lake well but has not fished it yet this year, and this helped some. Our game plan was to fish for post spawn fish thinking that all the bigger bed fish would be taken and we were last to take off. This was a costly mistake since we realized there were some beds with bigger fish on them that were undiscovered. It took us 5 hours to figure this out. We were catching alot of keepers post spawn the first 5 hours but they were all around 2 pounds. Then we ran into a bend up river that had a few smallies bedding that looked like 3.5 to 4 pounds. Jav got one then I got the other. For whatever reason these two 19 inch smallies were two of the skinniest I ever seen. So they went around 3 pounds. By that time it was quiting time and it was to late to repeat the pattern. We ended up with 11.5 pounds when the field averaged about 14 to 15 and it took just under 19 to win. The top finishers prefished alot and had countless beds GPS'd with the bigger smallies on them. This is exactly what I would have done if I got to prefish. Next time I will not make that mistake, if I dont get to prefish and get on good fish I simply wont fish the tournament. Osgood was there too and had a bad day as well, I think they ended up with 9.5#.

Pre fishing is the key to winning most tournaments, especially a spawning tournament. You still caught a pretty nice limit though, and it sounds like you were on track to catch bigger bass but the time ran out.

You know what you have to do next year!!

Tim,

Don't feel bad about your day on the water I ran into Mark Snyder at least 10 times that day and he told me we were on the right stuff but it was the bait that was the key, most of those fish are in the same spots year to year. In the last half an hour (100 ft from Snyder - BS'ing with him as we fished) We would catch one that weighed 2 - 2 1/2 and he would set up and catch a 3.12 we would catch a 2 and he would catch a 4 and we could not buy a bite from the big ones even though we were on them (again the bait was the key - afterwords Mark helped me out on this) I watched him and Trent boat 16 lbs while he was next to me. And I know that he got 2nd (the Kicker is that he caught those fish with in the last 2-3 hours of the tournament.
