I just bought my Canadian License tonight and it cost 68 dollars. I bought the seasonal conservation license not the 90 dollar seasonal license. That means I can only keep two bass a day. My question is, cna I livewell five then let them go? Or is there a Canadian law that says if it goes in your livewell its a kept fish.
If you know the answer let me know.

Justin,
I believe Canadian law on lake Erie only allows culling of one fish. So if you have five in the livewell then release more than one, you will be breaking the law. Once a fish goes into the livewell it is considered a 'kept' fish. Also if your license only allows you to 'keep' 2 bass a day, you better not get caught with more than 2 in your livewell at any one time. Again, if it goes in the livewell it is considered a 'kept' fish. Hopefully you did not purchase this license to participate in a tournament.

Justin,
As long as your parnter has a 'full' license you can keep 5 in the livewell. I assume if you are not tournament fishing you are putting them in the livewell for pictures or to avoid spooking the school by releasing them right away.
What I am not sure about is if you put 5 in the livewell and then release all 5, are you violating the one cull rule? I tried to see if the one cull rule applies to everyone or just tournaments, but could not find clarification. I would call the Ministry of Ontario fisheries if I were you to get clarification on the one cull rule. I would hate to get hit with a fine when you intended no harm and just wanted a picture or two.

Thanks a lot for looking this up for me I appreciate it. They make some rules a little hard to interprete.
