We did ok, we pre-fished 3 hours the evening before and could only find one productive area loaded with 14-15 inchers, but thats not going to cut it out there. So we started there for the tournament since it was our first time on White lake. Turns out about 8 other boats had the same idea and a boat on all three waypoints we had. We seen two boats limit up on our waypoints with small fish and we boated two. 96 boats and most stayed in white even though LM was glass go figure. So Jav turns to me and says its up to you, what should we do. I told him I dont like the situation here, we know muskegon a little and lake michigan is glass, I got a good spot there lets run.

He agreed, when we got to my area we had 4 hours to fish. We were fishing deep structure and cought 5 solid LM and 2 SM missed two good fish. All were 2-3 pounds and progressivley got bigger throughout the day. We finished with 12.29 pounds for 18th out of 96 I believe.

The winner Rick Hop also ran to muskegon, and I wish I kept my eye on him but never noticed him before. I heard he was on the same fish the day before practicing and it held up for him. He brought in 19.59 pounds of muskegon lake smallies what a sack for this time of year. I got some ideas where he might have been fishing though and got some new areas to try next practice, too bad you cant dropshot.

You can Drop Shot in Muskegon!!! You just need to tie a 2 or 3 inch leader off of your main line. Like a shortened perch rig. Try it!!!

I heard Rick Hop fished the shoreline Muskegon tournament this sat and won again with 18.5 pounds of smallies. Lake Michigan is off limits for shoreline so he was in Muskegon for sure. Any ideas of what he might be fishing out there?

Just inside the Pier heads....Also some nice rocky spots out there...near southwest side....There are all kinds of spots out there..just have to go look for them on a VERY calm day and mark them on your GPS. You can get up to 20lbs if ya find the right spots...without ever leaving Muskegon lake

I talked to one guy who said he fished the pier heads and walls on the entrance to LM in muskegon the entire day during the BBT white lake tournament and said he seen him go through but he never fished near the pier heads or walls, so it is in the lake. I will have to search some areas I have picked out on my map on friday and hope I find something.

Hahaj, im curious it seems that your a good stick, so why dont you fish any of the larger circuits or do you?

Good luck...if ya want to find spots....go early in the morning when the wind is low and the waves aren't high yet. That should help you out on the semi-calm days.

I don't have the money yet!!! I have to get my Masters degree in the next two years so I'm strapped for cash.

I also haven't spent enough time finding spot on the larger northern lakes. I like to have my ducks in a row before I put up any money to fish. Right now I'm just glad my wife lets my fish the local stuff Very Happy
