Headed north on Thursday for our annual August trip to the Bay. The plan this time is to try and fish Cat Head and Suttons. We haven't been there for a couple years but it's always been spectacular. Sure gonna miss you guys..... Laughing

I heard that the fish from the Stren event mostly came from LSC. I know they're supposed to be in the river now but I think 9 out of the final 10 boat all were fishing on St. Clair.
Good luck over there - that river is different!!

Ok, here's the short version of last Thursday thru Monday.

I'm pretty whipped and very sore.
But I'ld leave to go back in a heart beat.

Thursday we fished Ann. In my boat we caught 32 keepers with 4-12 being the biggest.(LM) Biggest smallie was around 3 1/2. I really like that lake.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday we fished the Bay. I've never been able to fish it 3 days in a row before so that was something new. They bit well on the 1st day, ok on the 2nd day and not well on the 3rd day. I found it interesting that we bitched and moaned about only catching 2 or 3 dozen smallies up to 4#'s - a horrible day there and a great day at home!
Sunday afternoon we pulled off the west arm and ran over to Lime. We always try to fish a new lake each trip and Lime's been on the list a long time. What a pretty little lake. The smallies are beautiful in there, plentifull and ornery. Had a blast catching them on SkitterPops.
Monday we fished Cadillac and Mitchell - actually prefishing for my weeknight classic there the 15th & 16th of September. Found some fish amd I'm going back for 2 days next week to try and find some more.
Next up north smallie trip is to Walloon in mid October.....CAN'T WAIT!!
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Sounds like a fun trip!! Kelly and I are planning to go up and fish around traverse the middle of october. We were going to hit up Skeg, the bay, and birch but I'm thinking about trying Glen Lake. Have you spent any time on Glen? I like your idea about trying new bodies of water every time you go up. I think I'm going to try that from now on.

If you're going in mid October be sure to take your chart/white spinnerbaits and every Pointer 100 - 128 you can get your hands on....

Yes, I've been on Glen a couple times. It will remind you of Crystal or Long. Some very nice fish there and of course they usually get 'em in the spring.

The options up there are endless. I know a group of guys that spend 3 weeks up there in the spring and 3 more in the fall. I hate those bums!!

The water level is way down on Birch and Bass and it's tough to get your boat off. Ever thought about Charlevoix? The meanest smallies on the planet live there. Smile

I fished an NBAA Clasis there in 2000 and the wind and waves were bad. We only caught 4 smallies and came in 15th. Rich Charleston had his trolling motor ripped off by a wave and a few boats sunk. I haven't been back since.

Whats the biggest Charlevoix smallie you've caught?

My best on Charlevoix isn't that great but I really like the lake when the fish are on the rocks. I fished the area between the lakes south of the ferry this spring. You wouldn't believe the fish I broke off on those poles....
That MBFN tourney there early in the year had HUGE sacks come in both days.
From what I've seen any of these lakes that get gobies really put out some brutes.

Justin - pm sent.
