| I had 2 puigs on, well over 5 and they just let it go the first day, heartbreak because I would have been over 21. However, the 22. 10 and 22. 8 bags both came off from the areas I was fishing in practice, actually the guy I fished with in practice guided the leader lol Day 2 waves were huge and we were not going to run so I caught 5 largies to keep the team in the running and decided to leave the rest for our kids to fish friday, which worked and both of them won and their weight carried us to a new Skeeter ZX180 with a 150 HPDI! For me Friday I was rescued by the Delta County Sheriff and the U.S. Coast Guard about 28 miles from the ramp. We were very lucky my partners cell phone worked because the boat filled in only minutes and we didn't have time to grab his flares or anything. We gathered in the front and he held his phone while I held the trolling motor and him and we had 1 bar of service or we would not have made it because the staff would not have reported us missing for 3 hours plus rescue time on the huge waters and we are goners. Both of our body temps had dropped a few degrees and we were freezing by the time they plucked us off the capsized boat. I am buying a survival suit before I go back on any great lake or st clair no joke! The sheriff was on a tow and it took them 30 minutes to go 8 miles and the rescue chopped was 45 and coast guard boat was about an hour to the scene. |

| Wow John that sounds like it was a close call for you two, glad you guys made it back safe. Why did the boater decide to run 28 miles from the ramp? Was the wind much worse than the forcast called for? I take it his boat and your equipment is at the bottom of lake michigan now. Again glad you guys made it through that nightmare.

| The fish were over by a place called the Garden Bluff pretty heavy and a few other boats made the venture, 3 others turned back and had to trailer to the weigh-in. A lot of my things are gone or ruined but thats why we have insurance. The Mustang Survival Suit that they had on board, which I stripped to my underwear and put on, was what I feel kept me going and warmed my body temperature back to normal. |
