The river smallies are startring to school up in Benton harbor. I caught a bunch one after another using a rattle trap today. They were piled in current seams. No lake smallies yet.

| What exactly do you mean by a "current seam?" Is this the line where fast current and slow current /slack water meet? Or is it where the current pushes hard into the outside of a bend?

| You must be used to those 6 and 7 pound smallies you catch at magician every outing right? Nothing exciting about a 4.5-5 pound smallie but a big toothy trash fish well that will really get the blood pumping. I just dont get why the majority of fisherman get so excited fighting big acrobatic smallmouth even when there is hundreds or even thousands of dollers on the line, it makes no sense to me. Who needs competition just give me a big spinnerbait and some toofy action and now we are doing some real fishin boys!

Lol I seen one caught out of magican that could have went 7.5+, I did not catch the fish tho nor do I know the angler that did. But I am used to the 23-24 inch smallies we pull out of the river in spring.

| I was there Sat. and caught a 24 inch that was over 6 pounds and a 22 in that was well over 5 pounds in back to back cast in the idle zone that where both lake smallies that had recently moved in. They where both very light colored. They haven't been in the river very long but were pretty far up in the idle zone.
