Anyone ever fish the St. John's River in Palatka, Florida or know anyone who has?

After 1.5 days of practice we have a little going. The fish are spawning in a couple clear springs that flow into the lake but a major cold front is coming and I doubt spawning fish are going to hold up. The water is very very muddy and a little salty. This is an extremely tough fishery because Rodman is off limits and its the only pure freshwater part of the chain. I did catch about a 6 foot gator on a Spro Bonzeye frog though lol

Still sounds like a blast. Did you get a pic of that gator? Are there reeds, arrowheads, or things like that?

Catch a big one!!

There are mats of grass everywhere along the river banks but nothing in them. The lakes are the same way, it's crazy. Terry Scroggins said he thinks it'll only take 7 a day to get in the money because it's so tough down here. I think a couple keepers a day will get me in the money from the back.
