what John has stated is true at the BAU the fish were up on beds either spawning or doing a mock spawn, but the problem is the fish were locked on and during most mock spawns I have seen they do not lock down. I have heard of fish in the North not spawning until late summer to early fall and this seemed apparent as the temp of the water was in the mid 60's. The people who found the beds will tell you that they were spawning or at least on beds and that included RVD, Mangus, Don Watts and myself. I believe others probably seen them also but I know that I have talked with these guys on what they saw after the tournament and that was the conclusion. The next part of this entails do we think that we are good enough to catch every single bass spawning on a lake the size of burt and mullet? remember that bass do not all spawn on 1 day so you were up on the 7th right so you must account for spawners from the first full moon phase in May until probably the full moon phase in July. So with that stated as long as you release the fish they will spawn. take a look at Hardy Damm and how many spawners get caught there every opening weekend for 2 days in a row and there is still a sack of 20lbs that the Nelsons caught, so to say that we catch them all is just not possible.

Rich

I agree with what Rich said to catch all them is impossible. But being on the water saturday at the BFl you would have thought different. These guys are like vaccum cleaners they pick up everything. I spent most of my day searching for new fish and areas that were pounded by wind that i figured most would stay out of with 3 footers rolling in. I hooked up on 3 more fish that would have gave me a respectable 19lb bag but lost them on the finicky bite they had on beds. when you hook them a time or two they really dont wanna play anymore and kinda circle the area more then locking back on.-skeeterman-

Looks like the BFL will be back at Burt and Mullett in 09 afterall. I just read on GLB that chaboygan is laying out the red carpet in an attempt to get the BFL back and they made the change.
