No harm Skeeter, I do not think anyone is bashing Jav I think that we just are trying to let him know that the competition is a lot stiffer with the bigger tournaments. I don't think anyone wants him to fail I think its the opposite and everyone wants him to do well. Speaking of Tad I ran into him Saturday Night (2 times) at dinner and then later for ice cream, and yes Tad is probably one of the best fisherman that I know but just remember that Tad knows all the waters around here as well as the larger ones. He is not new at fishing tournaments as he has cut his teeth on the water and did not start out on top of the leader board but worked very hard to achieve this. So I will say with out a doubt that I admire and respect Tad and his abilty in developing into a solid competitor; but do not forget Dave E. also as he puts fish in that boat too . So Skeeter I know what your saying about watching where your put your money and making sure that the payback is good but also how many tournaments can you spend $250 and qualify for a boat? Last year they took everyone who fished 2 tournaments; I would be happy to pay an entry of $250 for the opportunity to fish against the best fishermen for a boat. I hope some day we have a trail like Tri-State did back in the day but we will have to see. So Jav, Do not think people are bashing you they just want you to know all the pitfalls of being new to the larger circuits. Basically we do not want you to get frustrated and quit fishing all togather. |

Thanks for the shielding Skeeter, I know you mean it. Guys, lets put it this way: I know what I am getting in to, because I have done the reading, I obviously have done more of the research than most of you on the payouts and pay-ins, and I understand what I will have to accomplish. I have a mother and a father and a wife that are more than efficient at protecting my interests and making sure I see the light. I started this post as a way to draw others interest into how the tournament scene is ran unfairly, how the local scene is the exact same as the larger scene, only on a smaller scale, and to find some common ground with some of you. So far, I have heard 100 reasons you should not fish a bigger tournament, and very few reasons for it to be a good idea. Try giving some positive outlook on things once in a while guys. I feel like I am not at the top locally, but I feel I am a threat every tournament. I can find fish most of the time, and each time out I learn something new about how, why, or where. I've fished local tournaments for 2 years now, and no one on here that fishes tourneys locally can say I am not proficient at making a show. I make calculated errors occasionally, but everyone does. I finish last once in a while, but so do others. Ish finished last at the Classic. Are you going to tell him he needs to make sure he is doing better nefore he steps it up again?? NO, so stop telling me what you think I am not capable of doing. If I have the finances to do it I will do it in spite of what you think, because I know my limits. I did it in archery, made the jump to the big show after limited practice, and proved that I can hold it together under pressure. Ask any local archer and they either know me or of me. I make myself better by putting my .02 in with the best. That's how I get better, not by continuing to force myself on the small scene. If I fail, you'll all be saying I told you so. If I win, then you guys will all be saying you knew I could do it. I know I can do it, and the people that know me well know I have the determination to do it. Let's leave this post at that. No more arguing, as I like talking to Phil and I would hate to see him get reprimanded for something I started.

| In order to be competative, you have to put a lot of time in pre fishing. It's hard for a weekend angler to compete against a full time fisherman. As an example, you can go to Lake St. Clair and prefish a few days and find some fish, but you will be fishing against full time guides on the lake that fish it every day all summer long. I wish more tournement circuits had a two week off limits period, that would eliminate full time guides as they would not give up their business for a tournement. It would even up the field for people that can't take a week off before every tournement.

Jav1,
I didn't know you were a bow and arrow GURU I'd like to here more about what types of competitions you do? Where are they held? BPS. I bet shooting a bow can get pretty nerve racking, like shooting a game winning free throw.
Jav1 I see your point and like you the first chance I get to fish the bigger tournaments I'm in. What bigger tournaments are you going to start out with? If I can help you in any way let me know.
Skeet,
You're not going to get banned. I like the fire in your belly and how you speak up for Jav1. How has your tournament season been going?

| Hey there is always going to be disagreements on issues, I think that Jav is big enough to make up his own mind and Skeeter sticking up for him is not an issue. With out controlled arguments we would all be yes men. I agree with Justin on the comment if you think your ready for the bigger tournaments then by all means and if I can offer any help let me know. |
